About the VITA program
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at Burroughs Community Center is a cornerstone of our commitment to financial empowerment and community service. Designed to provide free tax assistance to low- and moderate-income individuals, seniors, and families, VITA plays a crucial role in helping our community members navigate the complexities of tax preparation and ensure they receive the refunds and credits they deserve. Staffed by dedicated, IRS-certified volunteers, our VITA program offers more than just tax preparation services; it provides peace of mind and financial guidance to those who need it most.
At Burroughs, we understand that managing taxes can be a daunting task, especially for those facing financial challenges or who are new to the tax system. Volunteer Opportunities
Each tax return is prepared by an IRS certified volunteer. They are neighbors committed to helping their community and working closely and carefully with every client. Each shares their gift of time and talent and are an inspiration with how individuals can make a big difference building community’s to succeed. Volunteers are always welcome and are needed to:
- Prepare tax returns
- Provide language interpretation
- Offer tax planning and financial literacy support
