Burroughs partners with the Connecticut Association for Human Services, the IRS and joins with over 100 other sites across the state to provide free tax preparation services to its community members.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. Each year, Burroughs helps hundreds of individuals and families complete their tax returns, saving them hundreds of dollars in preparation fees and file almost on million dollars in returns.
The program begins scheduling appointments at the beginning of January:
- Sundays 11:00 am -1:00 pm
- Mondays 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Tax appointments begin at the end of January and continue through mid April. We will begin making appointments in January 2019 for individuals filing 2018 returns. To make an appointment call Burroughs at 203-334-0293. Please see the calendar for details!
