VITA Program

Burroughs partners with the Connecticut Association for Human Services, the IRS and joins with over 100 other sites across the state to provide free tax preparation services to its community members.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $55,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. Each year, Burroughs helps hundreds of individuals and families complete their tax returns, saving them hundreds of dollars in preparation fees and file almost on million dollars in returns.
